Worship & Liturgy
At Mount Calvary, our worship is a dance of tradition and inclusivity, inviting everyone to join in a sacred liturgical rhythm. For the first-time visitor, our liturgy may be exhilarating … or confusing. However, liturgical worship can be compared with a dance: once you learn the steps, you come to appreciate the rhythm, and it becomes satisfying to dance, again and again, as the music changes. Worship at Mount Calvary is beautiful in its ordered dignity, God-centered, and yet mindful of the nature and needs of human beings.
The principal service is the Eucharist (Holy Communion). Jesus shared bread and wine with his first followers and is with us today in this family meal. Through it we are strengthened in our union with God and one another as we remember Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. Any baptized person is welcome and encouraged to take bread and wine.
While some parts of the service are always the same, others change. For example, the Bible passages change each Sunday. Some of the prayers also change to provide variety. Page numbers are usually announced or printed in the bulletin.
